National Gallery of Ireland

When an all new wing was added to the existing buildings the visitor flow through the Gallery was turned on its head and the need for a completely new wayfinding system in the entire gallery became apparent.

The various buildings that house the art collection were built in different eras, and each had their own signage concept, resulting in a disparate, inconsistent and confusing wayfinding system.

Working closely with the Gallery and the architects of the new wing, we completely re-thought the Gallery’s approach to signage. The new system manages to be highly visible while never competing with the artworks on display.
